Hello! My name is Priyanka, I am a

How I got here...

Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade in the nonprofit world — working in education, training, and mental health advocacy for underserved communities in Bangladesh. As an immigrant and a person of color, I saw firsthand the impact of trauma, systemic barriers, and cultural stigma around mental health. These experiences shaped my belief that mental health is not a luxury — it's a necessity.

So I decided to do something about it. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (graduated with distinction, thank you very much) and have been committed ever since to providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy that meets people where they are.

No, I don't have all the answers. But I do have the questions that help you find your answers.

TL;DR (Too Long; Definitely Relatable)

Therapy with me is:

  • Insightful but grounded

  • Structured but human

  • Deep, occasionally messy — and yes, sometimes even fun

  • A space to unpack, rebuild, and reconnect to your most authentic self

So whether you’re looking for help navigating anxiety, healing trauma, unpacking generational patterns, or finally figuring out why you freeze up every time someone says, “We need to talk” — let’s talk.

Glad to see you here...

I’m a mental health counselor, supervised by Taran McGowen, LPC-S, and a clinical assessor with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, graduated with distinction from Northwestern University! I'm passionate about community work and genuinely love helping people navigate their mental well-being journey—whether it's a scenic route, a winding path, or the occasional emotional rollercoaster. Helping people feel heard, supported, and empowered is what drives me every day.

 My Therapy Toolkit

  • Psychodynamic Therapy
We look back so you can move forward—because sometimes your childhood still has the remote control.

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Feel your feelings… without letting them drive the bus. Even the loud, messy ones get a seat.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Life’s not about deleting hard thoughts—it’s about living your values while they tag along in the backseat.

  • Attachment-Based Therapy
Early bonds leave lasting impressions (hello, ghost of exes past). Let’s untangle your relationship patterns with compassion.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Catching those "I'm the worst" thoughts and kindly showing them the exit.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Not sure you're ready to change? Totally okay. We'll explore what you want—no guilt trips, no bootcamp energy.

  • Trauma-Informed Care
We go at your pace, honor your story, and never pull emotional fire alarms without warning.

Let’s face it...

Being human is a wild ride. One minute you’re holding it all together, and the next you’re lying awake at 2 a.m., wondering if you're the only one who hasn’t figured out how to set boundaries, stop overthinking, or quiet the endless loop of guilt, shame, and “shoulds.” If that resonates, I want you to know: you're not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

Experiences so far...

As a Therapist

I help people unpack their emotional luggage without letting it take over the room, supporting them through anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges with compassion and evidence-based care. I draw on CBT to reframe unhelpful thoughts, ACT to live by values even with tough feelings, EFT to make space for emotions, MI to spark motivation, and Attachment-Based Therapy to untangle relationship patterns.

As an Assessor

I step into detective mode—minus the trench coat but with a healthy dose of empathy—to understand the full picture of someone’s mental health before treatment even begins. I use structured tools and in-depth interviews to identify what’s going on, respond calmly and effectively in moments of crisis, create safety plans that feel doable, and connect people to the right support, whether that’s therapy, psychiatry, or community resources.

As a Researcher

I dig into the evidence behind what truly works in therapy, including projects on clinical counseling supervision—how therapists are trained and supported. I translate findings into real-world strategies, design feedback tools to improve care, and keep one foot in research and one in practice so each informs the other. In short, I bridge science and compassion, grounding my work in expertise while keeping human connection at the center.
